Opened in 1834, the Hôtel des Bergues was Geneva's first hotel and, at the time, the largest hotel of its kind in Switzerland. Built as Geneva transformed its waterfront to welcome a new generation of travelers arriving by steamship, it became one of the city's great international addresses and remains a Geneva landmark today.
