A vintage piece of Venetian travel history.
Your boat crosses the lagoon and Venice begins assembling itself in front of you — domes, bell towers, palazzi and an improbable city rising straight from the water. By the time your luggage reaches Hotel Londres on the Riva degli Schiavoni, you're only steps from Piazza San Marco. Gondolas, steam launches and pedestrians compete for your attention, and the hardest decision will be which direction to explore first.
The hotel's story reaches back to the Hotel d'Angleterre, opened on the Venetian waterfront in 1853, and the neighboring Beau Rivage, opened in 1865. In 1900 the two were joined to form the Hotel Londres et Beau Rivage — the celebrated “hotel with a hundred windows.” Over the years its guests included composers, writers and artists drawn to Venice from around the world. Today the hotel continues as the Londra Palace Venezia.
